Apple is paying $250 million to settle claims that it failed to deliver an AI-upgraded Siri, and eligible US iPhone owners can now submit claims. The settlement covers iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models purchased during the covered period.

OpenAI → Glass Imaging

OpenAI reportedly agreed to buy smartphone camera maker Glass Imaging for $300 million; Glass Imaging was founded by former Apple engineers who developed Apple's Portrait Mode.

Apple has finally shipped its rebuilt Siri AI, built on Google's Gemini models and running partly on-device and partly through Private Cloud Compute. Early testers praise multi-step requests and screen context, but report hallucinations and gaps with some tasks. The new Siri is not available in the EU.
